If I had access to the kit store at university, I would have got a DSLR, a better tripod, and maybe a gimbal. This would have made it much easier to make a full, professional video. Although, I am happy with how my DIY set up worked!

WHAT DIDN’T WORK?
One thing that i think didn’t work most about the video was the quality of the cut aways, if I had have used a DSLR i think it would have looked a lot more professional, as I feel like the cutaways should have been filmed in good quality.
WHAT WENT WELL?
I think the interview scenes were extremely well lit and shooting from 2 different angles gave me more time to be creative with my video! I used a soft box and standard white light, to give the subject a white light effect, as yellow light would have affected the appearance of the interview in a negative way. I liked the placement of the interviewee in the centre of the frame, and also cutting to a separate, less flattering view. It was almost as if we could see 2 sides to each subject.

MY FINAL IDEA
My final idea for my hybrid unit is to interview my family on each of their different lockdown experiences. I thought each experience would be extremely different… but it turns out they were considerably similar! I wanted to find out the ins and outs, the ups and downs and the worries about lockdown for each individual family member. The questions I have decided to ask are:
What are your best and worst things about Lockdown?
Explain an average day of Lockdown for you.
How would you say the Lockdown has affected your mental health?
Has Lockdown given you more time to focus on hobbies, and if so, how?

MY MOCK UP VIDEO
Considering we should be shooting with professional DSLR cameras, corona has made this a little difficult for me! I have no DSLR at home that shoots video, so instead, i shot on an I Phone 7, and a Sony Handy cam. Whilst this is not ideal, i decided I would make the best off it! I set up my Tripod, my light and my “home made tripod”, and filmed my interviews! Although I couldn’t get the quality I wanted, building a DIY set up was a creative and fun thing to do along with shooting.
